I run a membership for voice teachers — about 60 paying members, £19 a month, mostly UK. Onboarding is currently a welcome email with a link to the resource vault, and then nothing.
I know it's not working. Members who attend a live call in week one are still here a year later; members who don't are gone by month three. I can see the pattern clearly in the data and I still haven't fixed it, because every live call needs me in it and I'm already running four a week.
The embarrassing part is I've known this for about eight months. I keep telling myself I'll build a proper onboarding sequence once things calm down. They haven't calmed down.
What did you actually change, and did it move the retention number, or just make you feel better about the welcome email?
CONTEXT AT PUBLICATION
What a useful answer should help achieve
A concrete first change that improves early engagement without adding more live hours from me.
Already tried
Welcome email plus a link to the resource vault, and one live kickoff call a month.
Constraints and unknowns
Every meaningful touchpoint currently requires my time, and my time is the thing I don't have.
