Started a build-in-public log for our onboarding conversion problem

I'm writing this down mostly to keep myself honest. Every time I try to fix conversion I end up changing three things at once, and then I can't tell which one helped. Putting the numbers and the sequence somewhere public forces me to separate the variables instead of guessing.
