I sent a plain note to my list saying the retainer rate goes up on the 15th, no discount code, no apology. Eleven replies, three from people who have never bought anything. One renewal and one very polite unsubscribe. I still don't know if the people who bought were already going to.
Told my list the price goes up in two weeks
