Platform Fees for Creators: What 0% Is Worth
See how a platform fee on every sale compounds as you grow, what a 0% fee keeps, and how to compare the true cost of creator platforms.

Creator platforms charge in three ways: a subscription, a percentage of each sale and payment processing. The percentage is the one that grows with your success, so it deserves a close look before you commit.
Two kinds of fee
The payment processor charges a card fee on every transaction, whoever you use. A platform fee is on top of that: a share of each sale that goes to the platform. Gbeya charges 0% platform fee, so on your sales you pay only the processor and your plan. Other platforms vary by plan, and some have no platform fee on higher tiers, so read each vendor's current pricing page and note the date.
A worked example you can adapt
Imagine you sell $20,000 in a year. A 5% platform fee on top of processing takes $1,000. A 10% fee takes $2,000. At $100,000 in sales, the same percentages cost $5,000 and $10,000. The subscription is a fixed cost; the percentage keeps climbing. Plug your own sales into the creator stack cost calculator to see your numbers rather than an illustration.
Look at the whole stack
Fees are not the only cost. Add the separate subscriptions for email, scheduling, community and a website that you pay when a platform covers only part of the job. An all-in-one platform with a 0% fee can reduce both. Our comparison pages show dated, sourced figures.
When a percentage fee makes sense
A percentage fee can be fair when you start, since you pay little before you earn. It becomes expensive as volume grows. If you expect to sell more over time, model the cost at your target sales, not only today's.
Check for other charges
Ask about fees for refunds and chargebacks, limits on email sends or contacts, charges for extra team members and the cost of exporting your data. Ownership matters too: you should be able to take your customer list with you.
Keep more of what you earn
Lower fees do not replace good offers, but they change the break-even point for every product. For a creator selling modestly, the difference is a monthly coffee; at scale it is a salary. Gbeya sponsorship CRM and the store let you sell without a share of revenue going to the platform.
