Case study

Starting situation
An e-commerce client in the Philippines had a warm audience that read and shared but never bought. My team was measured on publishing cadence and engagement, and I had stopped reviewing content personally after delegating delivery.
What changed
We increased content volume and formats, assuming more exposure would eventually trigger purchases. We continued reporting reach and engagement as the main success signal to the client.
Result
Engagement stayed high, but the client gave notice. We kept the retainer only by rebuilding the strategy around conversion paths and a clear handoff to the client's sales process.
Limitations
This was one client and one market. I don't know if the real problem was the content strategy, the client's offer, or my lack of oversight after delegation. It doesn't prove volume is wrong, only that reach alone wasn't enough here.

We almost lost a retainer last quarter because I let my team in Davao optimise for reach. Six months of content, audience growing, engagement all green, but the client kept asking why nothing was converting. I had already handed off content calendars and my only QA was 'did it go out on time.' I told them the audience needed more time. They didn't. They needed content tied to a decision. We just produced more of what wasn't working.
